Club Med Cruises

The history of Club Med began in 1950 when a man named Gerard Blitz marched into the police office in Corsica and filed a charter for a new association. Its official purpose: to develop an appreciation for the outdoor life and the practice of physical education and sports. He called it Club Mediterranee, and today there are more than 100 Club Med villages worldwide.

In 1992 the company entered the world of cruising with the launch of Club Med 2, one of the largest passenger sailing ships in the world with over 26,000 square feet of sail on five towering masts. The ship has a distinctive European atmosphere, with the majority of the 200 crew members coming from Europe with French as their first or second language.
