Viking Longship

Viking Freya is one of the four new Longships that Viking will be launching in 2012.

Dedicated to European river cruises, the Freya will be a sophisticated and cutting-edge additions to the Viking fleet (read the announcement here)

Freya has been designed by renown maritime architects Yran & Storbraaten, who have introduced a number of technologically advanced features, including:

Features of the Viking Freya include:

  • Eco-friendly cruising. The ships are powered with energy-efficient hybrid engines, solar panels and an organic herb garden
  • Explorer Suites. The Freya will have two of these Explorer suites, measuring a sizable 445 square feet and feature a separate living room, bedroom, bathroom and private, wraparound verandah. The seven 270-square-foot Veranda Suites on each ship will offer full-size verandahs in the living rooms and French balconies in the bedrooms.
  • Size. Freya will be 443 feet long and feature 95 cabins. 75% of cabins will feature Balconies or verandahs
  • Terrace Lounge. New lounge concept, the Aquavit Terrace, features a retractable glass doors for alfresco relaxation on nice days and climate-controlled views on inclement days – useful when cruising Europe.
